Legal requirements for working with diisocyanates
Since 24 August 2023, stricter requirements apply for chemical work environment risks (amendment to AFS 2011:19), linked to regulation (EU) 2020/1149 amending Annex XVII (diisocyanates) of REACH. Anyone who uses diisocyanates professionally or industrially must have completed training in safe handling before starting the work.
The REACH restriction's requirements are more extensive than the earlier chemical work environment risk requirements. If you have an older training certificate, it isn't automatically sufficient - it needs to be supplemented to cover both regulations.
